When I’m going on a trip and I’ll be staying in a hotel for some days, I have this urge to feel cozy and as much as home as possible. One way to achieve this is to take a couple of things with me that will either remind me of home or add that comfort that I can only find there. These days airlines make sure we do not hoard our entire house with us. However, you don’t need to think big! Just a tiny pack of bath salts or a little friend can give you what you are looking for.
For our trip to Luxemburg we decided to take Grumpy the Cat eye pillow with us. We though it would be good to have him in case the soothing lavender was needed to relieve a headache (yep, I foresaw it happening) or just to relax a bit at the end of the day. As I was planning what we’ll be packing I realized that I would not want to put Grumpy in the suitcase as is. Putting him in a plastic bag was also out of the question. The poor thing might suffocate for heaven’s sake! So I decided to make a quick sleeping bag for him, something in which we might carry him around without getting him dirty.
I wanted something quick and easy, so I decided on a drawstring bag. I used the same fabric that I used for the back of the eye pillow. I though it would be a good idea to match them. I used a thin satin ribbon that was close in color as the string. It didn’t take that long to come up with the idea and to tuck Grumpy in into his cozy new home. I am rather relieved that when he does travel with us the pillow that we will put on our eyes will remain nice and clean.
So Grumpy has traveled the world now. OK, a small portion of it. While travelling we did not want to take him out on Frankfurt Airport though, because he seemed quite shy. I can only imagine how the cleaning lady must have scared him when she first came into our room. that he should react this way. Or… was it the other way around?
